New Operator Designations and Renewal Process on the Way

August 29, 2016

National harmonization has resulted in the following changes for BC:

  • A new Mobile Crane Operator designation for BC that will include Lattice Friction, Lattice Hydraulic, and Mobile Hydraulic Unlimited.
  • Red Seal endorsement is now available for Tower Crane Operator.
  • BC crane operator designations will have new names.
  • There is a new Mechanic (Non-commercial Lift, Limited Scope) designation.
  • BC Crane Operator status is now renewable online and at no cost on a yearly basis. Operators will be notified several months before their birthday regarding the need to renew, follow the links, and verify their profile details.

Every three years renewal will require a new photo, demonstration of operation of the crane classification that a designation is held in, acknowledgement of any changes in new regulations, and demonstration of knowledge of any applicable new technology and equipment. The SkillRecord logbook app is available to all registered BC Crane Operators to log experience and track hours at no cost to the individual.

An electronic card will be issued at no cost, and if desired a physical card will be issued at minimal cost.
